A 10-year-old boy who was electrocuted at his birthday party has woken from his medically induced coma.
Elijah Belden, from Riverside County, California was injured on October 4th.

During the backyard party, Elijah touched a metal patio cover support that had become electrified. His family believes the electric lights strung on the cover are the cause of the electrocution.

After the shock, Elijah was airlifted to a hospital in San Diego.

Initially, his condition was listed as critical. After improving it was classified as stable. His father spoke to reporters and confirmed there was no damage to his heart or brain.

After the accident, Elijah’s family created the "Pray For Elijah Belden" Facebook page. There, they shared that he's out of the coma and moving forward with his recovery.

A heartwarming message reads “Smiling so big we could all eat a banana sideways...Elijah has been extubated tonight. Words just can't express how happy mom and dad are that our son was able to tell us his name moments after the tube was removed.”

Now the family is celebrating his birthday, and that he's okay.
