David Nieland, the investigator in the 2012 Secret Service prostitution scandal, resigned upon being linked to prostitution himself.

His departure from the Department of Homeland Security occurred in August following an alleged interrogation concerning an incident in Broward County, Florida.

Sheriff’s deputies were watching a hotel as part of a sex trade investigation when they saw Nieland enter and later leave the establishment.

Authorities later showed a prostitute a picture of him, and she said he had paid her for illicit services.

Nieland chose not to respond to a Homeland Security official about the accusation, opting to leave his post instead.

His former department has since declined comment, saying it’s their policy not to discuss matters pertaining to personnel.

They confirmed that he was no longer employed there.

It was also verified that they had gotten information about a prostitution-related incident in Florida involving one of their workers in May.

When contacted recently by the New York Times, Nieland denied any wrongdoing.

So far, no charges pertaining to the incident have been filed against him.
