Doctor cured of Ebola, hugs NYC Mayor de Blasio

Dr. Craig Spencer, 33, who was diagnosed with Ebola after working with patients in West Africa, is released Tuesday (November 11) from a hospital where he has been treated for the disease.

Spencer hugged Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray during a news conference at Bellevue Hospital Center, and thanked the Bellevue medical team for the "tremendous care and support."

Spencer had been held in isolation in Bellevue Hospital Center since he was diagnosed with Ebola on Oct. 23, after working with patients in Guinea with Médecins Sans Frontières.

"While my case has garnered international attention, it is important to remember that my infection represents but a fraction of the more than 13,000 reported cases to date in West Africa," said Spencer.
