This incredible time-lapse animation shows the surface of the sun from October 14th to 30th, focusing on a massive sunspot, titled AR 2192, which was the largest sunspot of the past 22 years. During this time the sunspot produced at least 10 solar flares. The animation is composed of more than 17,000 images provided by the Solar Dynamics Observatory, and was produced by James Tyrwhitt-Drake. Credit: YouTube/James Tyrwhitt-Drake
