The Stories Behind the Tweets - Central African Republic/Brazil/Mexico

The Stories Behind the Tweets, hosted by William Parra, seeks to open a window to the world, to get to the bottom of stories larger than 140 characters. Today's program begins in the Central African Republic where, as in any conflict marked by violence and brutality, the first casualty is civil society, unarmed and defenseless. Survivors of the massacres in the city of Bouce, refugees in the local Catholic church, tell their stories. Then its off to Sao Paulo, where we take a look at some of the 300,000 Bolivians who, for better or for worse, have made Brazil's largest city their home. Finally, we visit Santa Maria del Tule, a village in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, where despite poverty, racism and marginalization, a basketball team comprised exclusively of children from the Triqui indigenous community have gained national and international recognition and admiration. teleSUR
