Kurdish fighters recapture villages from ISIL

Iraqi Kurdish fighters are engaged in an operation to recapture swathes of land from ISIL. They also managed to break an ISIL siege of Mount Sinjar, where fighters and civilians from the Yazidi minority had been trapped since September.
