It probably won’t come as a surprise to many, but Time Warner Cable and Comcast have been named as the country’s most unpopular companies.

It probably won’t come as a surprise to many, but Time Warner Cable and Comcast have been named as the country’s most unpopular companies.

That’s based on the annual Consumer Satisfaction Index compiled by the University of Michigan.

To determine which businesses are most loved and despised, researchers polled customers nationwide and ask them to give businesses a satisfaction-based ranking between 1 and 100. 230 brands across a variety of industries were rated.

Time Warner Cable earned itself the two lowest scores. Their Internet branch received a 54 while their television division scored a 56.

Comcast’s Internet service was only slightly less reviled, getting a 57.

It seems people are generally less than thrilled with their online connectivity providers as AT&T Uverse, CenturyLink, Cox Communications and Charter Communications all landed in the 60s.

Much of the animosity towards cable companies is attributed to escalating subscription rates.

In the past 10 years, the price for cable service bundles has more than doubled.

Lack of provider options has also been a source of frustration for many consumers.

Despite how the public feels, Time Warner and Comcast announced early in 2014 that they are attempting to merge into one big entity.
