The film ‘American Sniper’ went into wide release recently, drawing huge crowds and some negative commentary from Michael Moore.

It wasn’t so much the film that had the celebrated documentarian riled up. His issue was with snipers in general.

Moore tweeted, “My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren't heroes. And invaders r worse”

He did later post a follow-up message that exempted those who climb up on their rooftops with rifles to defend their own homes against invaders ‘who’ve come 7 thousand miles’ from the classification.

Taking that action under those circumstances, according to Moore, is what earns one the reputation of being brave.
