Hunger Makes People Buy More Stuff

A recent behavioral study has shown that people who are more hungry have a greater likelihood of acquiring more things, even items that are not food related.

Hunger has been shown to cause people to acquire more stuff, including non-food items.

Previous studies have focused on how hunger impacts people’s search for food, but this one led by a researcher from the University of Minnesota explored its ability to affect the desire for things not related to sustenance.

The team performed a series of five experiments examining the behaviors of 379 people in total.

In one such test, hungry and non-hungry participants reported liking the binder clips they were shown at about the same level, but the hungry group actually took 70 percent more when they were offered.
