Skater punk fight: teen girl gets skull cracked open by skateboarders at Venice Beach park
  • 9 years ago
A 16-year-old girl is lucky to be alive after she was the victim of a vicious assault Thursday (March 26, 2015) night. Brooklyn Smith and her boyfriend Toyon Carlson were walking back to their car at about 8:30 last Thursday evening when two young men asked the couple where they were from — but before the teenagers could respond, someone yelled, "That's her! Get her." Then, according to Brooklyn, as many as 30 young men who rode in on skateboards, began attacking them.

One of the suspects slammed a skateboard against the back of Brooklyn's head and while she escaped with her life, the 4-inch crack in her head required half a dozen surgical staples to close.

There was one redeeming element to the story— Brooklyn says another teen girl placed her body over Brooklyn, shielding her from the repeated blows. Brooklyn says the girl may have saved her life. Police are searching for two main suspects, described as men in their late 20s.
