Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Batman Returns for the Atari Lynx developed and published by Atari. Although it was released for virtually every platform imaginable at the time, the Atari Lynx version of Batman Returns is notable for a few reasons. Not only was the game bundled with the system for a while, but new Lynx owners who sent Atari their proof of purchase would also get the game for free. It was a showpiece for the platform, and at least in terms of its presentation, you can see why. Batman Returns, as a handheld game, looked better than what many console games looked like at the time. The Lynx version is also unique in terms of its gameplay—it’s a beat ‘em up in which beating ‘em up isn’t a good idea. Your best choice of action in this side-scroller? Run.
