Bank robbery: Connecticut CFO has 'bomb' strapped to him in failed robbery attempt
  • 9 years ago
A Connecticut bank worker and his mother had fake bombs strapped to their bodies early Monday as part of an elaborate but ultimately unsuccessful bank robbery.

It began at around 8am when a home invasion was reported at the Bristol home of the Chief Financial Officer of the Achieve Financial Credit Union.

Police later said the invasion was connected to an attempted robbery at the New Britain branch of the bank.

Sources told local reporters that two masked men had forced their way into a house where CFO Matthew Yussman lives with his mother.

The men then strapped bombs to Yussman and his mother and threatened to detonate them unless he drove to the bank and emptied the vault for them.

He went to the bank where a co-worker called the police. Police later determined that the devices were fake.

Police are looking for the two assailants while trying to determine whether the victim was coerced or a suspect.
