Paris terror attack: 12 dead in apparent Islamist attack on French magazine Charlie Hebdo

Masked gunman attacked the offices of a satirical French magazine on Wednesday, killing 12 people in an apparent terrorist attack.
Witnesses told AFP they saw two men armed with Kalashnikovs entering the Paris offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Minutes later, witnesses heard sustained gunfire in the building.
According to initial reports, three gunmen fled in a getaway car before switching to a hijacked car. There was a gun battle with the police down the street from the magazine office.
The dead included two police officers and journalists. Eight people were wounded, four of them are in critical condition
Charlie Hebdo is famous for mocking religious symbols of all faiths and in recent years has angered Muslims for its depictions of the prophet Mohammed. Witnesses said they heard the gunmen shout “God is great!” and “We have avenged the Prophet!”
French authorities say three of the gunmen are currently at large.
