Police brutality: cops pepper spray black teen in his own home in North Carolina

North Carolina’s finest pepper sprayed a black teenager in his foster parents’ home, who are both white, after they thought he was a burglar, police have said.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon on England Avenue in Fuquay-Varina after 18-year-old DeShawn Currie walked home. DeShawn has been living with Ricky and Stacy Tyler and their three young kids. The family moved to Fuquay-Varina in July.
Stacy Tyler had left the side door of their house unlocked on Monday for DeShawn because he was coming home early from school.
Fuquay-Varina police said that when a neighbor saw DeShawn enter the house, they called 911 to report a break-in. Three police officers quickly responded to the scene and confronted DeShawn in his own house.
“They was like, ‘Put your hands on the door,’” DeShawn said. “I was like, ‘For what? This is my house.’ I was like, ‘Why are y’all in here?’”
The three stooges then pointed to the pictures of the Tyler’s three younger kids, who happened to be white, assuming that he didn’t belong there. Naturally DeShawn got angry. An argument broke out and one of the cops pepper-sprayed him in the face.
When DeShawn’s mother came home, she found DeShawn being treated by EMS in her driveway. She then informed the three amigos that DeShawn was her foster child.
Fuquay-Varina police said officers responded to a report of suspicious criminal activity at the Tyler residence. Their excuse was that because DeShawn became threatening, belligerent and would not follow instructions, they had to pepper-sprayed him.
