7 Months Later, Ayotzinapa Families Demand Justice
  • 9 years ago
Seven months have gone by since the tragic attack on Ayotzinapa students in the town of Iguala, in the violence-ridden Mexican state of Guerrero. Last September 26, police attacked a bus carrying dozens of students, killing three on the scene. Three civilians were also shot dead and 43 students were abducted by the police. According to the official version, flatly rejected by family members, the police handed them over to a local gang that burnt them to ashes. An official report also claims that the body of one student has been identified. The case has sparked international condemnation and widespread protest around the world. Despite the fact that around 100 suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, the government has failed to press charges against a single official for forced disappearances. The families continue to fight for justice and are still demanding that loved ones be found alive. teleSUR
