Horse racing fan Faustino Landeo Delgadillo, 50, died from severe trauma and respiratory failure in hospital after a collision with a horse and his jockey in Acobamba, Peru.

The jockey was also injured and taken to medics but is expected to make a full recovery.

It is not known why Delgadillo walked onto the horse track as the two horses were approaching the finish line, but reports have emerged that he was on the phone and intoxicated. Authorities have yet to confirm an official version of events.
