TSA fail: Woman without ticket or boarding pass flies to LA on Southwest Airlines, TSA condemned

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is taking heat after a woman breezed past security and got onto a flight.
On Wednesday, Marilyn Hartman, a 62-year-old woman, pleaded guilty to boarding a flight without a ticket or boarding pass.
Ms. Hartman, who reports say is homeless, managed to fly on a Southwest Airlines flight from San Jose to Los Angeles with no one noticing she shouldn’t have been on the plane.
In fact, she was not found out until the plane landed and a flight attendant noticed the headcount was off.
This is reportedly the fourth time Hartman has made it into an airport boarding area without proper documentation, but the August 1 flight was the first time she’d actually gotten on a plane.
She was sentenced to three days in jail and 24 months of probation.
Everything indicates Hartman is just a nice elderly lady who’s fallen on hard times. But the TSA is being condemned for their failure as they represent the first line of security at airports.
Ms. Hartman’s case was rightly flagged as a serious breach by a US congressman who noted that while Hartman might have been harmless, the next person to slip through security might not be.
