Teen death: Michigan high school girl sent text messages warning abduction

April Millsap was set to start high school in the fall, but the 14-year-old’s life was tragically cut short along a bike trail in her hometown of Armada, Michigan. Her parents, police and everyone in the small community are searching for answers.

On the afternoon of July 24, April decided to take the family dog, Penny, out for a walk, something she’d done many times before. Police say she may have been watched from afar.

Specifically, they are looking for anyone who saw a blue and white motorcycle along the Macomb Orchard Trail, where April was walking her dog before she disappeared. They’re also looking for a dented grey and white panel van along with a suspect, described only as a tall caucasian male with red or brownish-red hair.

Sadly, April’s body was discovered by others on the trail, with her faithful dog Penny by her side. She had sent an ominous text message to her boyfriend.

The coroner hasn’t yet said how she died, only that a gun or knife wasn’t involved. However, the FBI is saying that they believe whoever did it may “show an excessive
interest in the case or have unexplained absences from their regular activities,” possibly meaning the suspect is a “mania killer,” a person who commits crimes for the sake of notoriety.
