Severe weather, tornadoes strikes North Carolina

Storms raced out of the heartland and into Appalachia on Friday, bringing torrential rains, hail, and a tornado outbreak.
Hardest hit was North Carolina, where a tornado watch stretched from just east of Charlotte, to the Outer Banks, effectively covering two-thirds of the state. Tornadoes were spotted in at least ten counties and the most damage was seen around Beaufort and Pitt Counties, where a tornado touched down just outside of Greenville. There were no deaths, however 12 people were hospitalized with minor injuries.
Elsewhere the heavy rains dumped sheets of rain and hail, causing flash flooding and downed power lines. At last count, there were around 6,000 households left without power due to the storms.
