Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel showed Oscar Pistorius a graphic photo of dead girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his murder trial, prompting the athlete to become emotional.

The gruesome photo depicted a bloody exit wound from Steenkamp's head. Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel compared Steenkamp's head to the watermelon's Pistorius used for target practice.

In an earlier video, Pistorius is seen shooting a gun at watermelons. Nel said the watermelon's had exploded in the same way as Ms Steenkamp's head.

But Pistorius would not look at the photos. "I've taken responsibility... but I will not look at a picture where I am tormented by what I saw and felt that night... I remember. I don't have to look at a picture, I was there.''
