Murdered with baseball bat? Pay $1 Million or go to jail!

A 15-year-old boy in the first year of high school was brutally murdered by a then-17-year-old boy in Tondabayashi, Osaka, Japan, in June 2009. The bereaved demanded approximately 100 million yen (or $1 million) in compensation for the loss of their son. Osaka District Court Sakai Branch ruled in favour of the the family members of the deceased.

The dead boy is said to have been well acquainted with his classmate and soon-to-be killer. He was said to seek advice on romance from the older boy. The older boy asked his junior out to discuss girls. He told the young pupil to sit on the river bank, and close his eyes so the elder classman could perform a psychological test, that's when the older boy turned killer, beating his classmate to death with a baseball bat and a mallet. The family of the victim filed a one-million-dollar lawsuit against the murderer and his parents. The court ruled that his parent were culpable for failing to teach their son discipline. The court ruled they should pay the fine.
