A suicide bombing killed at least 10 people in Rawalpindi, near Pakistan's capital Islamabad on Monday (January 20).

The attack took place in the RA bazaar, a crowded market near the Pakistani army headquarters during morning rush hour. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, according to Al Jazeera.

Pakistani daily the Nation reported that the suicide bomber was riding a bicycle when security personnel stopped him at a checkpoint. He then detonated his device. At least 14 people were killed by the blast, according to the BBC. Six military personnel were among the fatalities.

The attack came a day after 20 soldiers were killed in the country's North Waziristan tribal region when a bomb blast struck an army convoy.
