Air India pilot locked out of the cockpit after toilet break

An Air India flight was forced to land after the pilot was locked out of the cockpit after a toilet break on Monday.
Flight AI403, with 135 passengers on board, was travelling from Delhi to Bangalore. About one hour after the flight took off, the pilot came out of the cockpit for a toilet break. He found the cockpit door jammed when he went back to take his seat. The door failed to open despite all efforts. It was later discovered that a screw from the lock became loose and fell, which jammed the door. Passengers started panicking after witnessing the pilot and the crew gathered outside the cockpit. The co-pilot then contacted ground control and decided to make an emergency landing in Bhopal.
It was reported that ground maintenance technicians had to enter the cockpit through a window after it landed. It took them about 30 minutes to fix the door.
This is the third incident reported by Air India within a month.
