Even though he's now president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is descending from his perch to campaign hard in a general election where, if his Islamist-rooted AK Party wins a landslide, he can then draw up a constitutional referendum that could make him the most powerful civilian leader since the founder of modern Turkey, Kemal Ataturk.
