Horse races are important part of life on the island of Sumba, an island of about 600,000 people located about mid-way between Bali and East Timor.

The jockeys in these races are always children...some as young as four years old.

Child labour is illegal in Indonesia but local officials claim the practice is an entrenched part of the local culture.
