1970s Ballistics Film: Gun & Firearm Forensics & Crime Scene

This film produced by the Federal Bureau of Investigation shows FBI personnel examining the bullets from guns and firearms found at a crime scene. The footage includes examination of bullet shell markings, test firing the weapons, checking the serial numbers, identifying bullets and compiling evidence for the court case. The FBI workers try to reconstruct the crime scene and compare the murder weapon against other guns, as well as line up the bullet markings to determine the direction and angle of fire.
