Robot sex conference banned by Malaysian officials

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — On Tuesday police in Malaysia vowed to use all laws at their disposal to prevent the Love and Sex with Robots workshop from taking place there in November.
If that's the strangest sentence you've ever heard, don't worry: You're only as ignorant as Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid abu Bakar, who made the surprise announcement to news media gathered at the Sime Darby Convention Center in Kuala Lumpur, according to the Star.
The academic Love and Sex with Robots workshop was to be held during the larger Advances in Computer Entertainment Technology 2015 conference, taking place in Iskandar, Malaysia, from November 16 to November 19.
Although the Inspector General must think it's Dr. Robotnik's pneumatic love dungeon, in fact, Love and Sex with Robots was merely a call for academic papers to be reviewed by a panel. Though that's not to suggest that when the conference is in recess, those randy academics aren't going to review their peers' briefs!
Not concerning himself with the difference between an academic workshop and a mechanical one, the Inspector-General declared that "There's nothing scientific about sex and robots!"
"It's an offense to have anal sex in Malaysia, what more with robots" he continued. The Inspector General, using a Malay expression, referred to the notion of "sex with robots" as deviant culture.
Faced with the open threat of imprisonment in Malaysia, organizers Adrian Cheok, of the City University of London, and David Levy, of Intelligent Toys Ltd. London, are unlikely to go ahead with the Love and Sex with Robots workshop. So any Malaysian police hoping to bust in on some kinky man-on-bot action next month are sure to be disappointed.
