Hero daycare owner smacked in the face with a shovel protecting kids from drunk, deadbeat dad

RONAN, MONTANA — A daycare owner who was bashed and hit with a shovel when she stepped in to stop a deadbeat dad from abducting his three children has been hailed as a hero after her story went viral.
The Associated Press reports that Martha McClure, proprietor of Martha's Mini Day Care in Ronan, Montana, was minding children at her center October 7 when Francis Jackson arrived with his girlfriend.
McClure told the AP that Jackson, whom she knew had been stripped of custody, reeked of alcohol and threatened to assault her when told he couldn't leave with the kids.
McClure then managed to physically force Jackson and the other woman out of the building and lock the door, the report states. Having none of it, Jackson went berserk, throwing toys and a tricycle at the window to try to get back in.
McClure then went back out to tell Jackson to scram, but quickly found herself in a fight as she stood her ground. This proved to be a costly decision; Jackson's girlfriend found a snow shovel and slammed it into McClure's face. Jackson then punched McClure, knocking her to ground. The two attackers then fled, leaving McClure and the children behind.
Jackson was arrested and faces several charges, He is being held on $100,000 bond. Charges against the girlfriend are pending.
According to a GoFundMe page set up to assist with medical expenses, McClure underwent eye surgery on October 12 and "has a long road of healing ahead of her."
