Haiti: Strike Over Tax Hikes Paralyzes Public Transportation

The National Platform of Transport Unions estimated that 70% of public transportation in the country was paralyzed on Monday, during the first day of a two-day strike. Although Prime Minister Evans Paul announced that tax increases would be withdrawn, the striking workers are demanding a presidential decree confirming the Prime Minister’s announcements.
