Chile. Priest Accused of Child Abuse Testifies in Case Against Church

A Chilean priest accused of severe and repeated child abuse has provided evidence in a case against the Catholic Church for allegedly protecting him. Fernando Karadima denied committing the crimes when he was the parish priest in an exclusive Santiago neighborhood. In 2010 a Chilean court closed the case against him because the alleged offenses happened too long ago. But three victims of the abuse are now suing the Catholic Church after letters from church leaders came to light revealing attempts at a cover-up. teleSUR
