‘Space Hotline’ To Help U.S. And China Avoid Problems

The U.S. and China have reportedly set up a ‘space hotline’ as a more direct means of communication about potential conflicts relating to space activities including satellite and military security.

Two world superpowers have recently agreed to a system of communication that is reminiscent of the Cold War era.

According to the Financial Times, a “space hotline” has been set up between the U.S. and China so information about space activities can be shared, and thus, problems avoided.

In the piece, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Frank Rose described the recent previous system where a communication about potentially conflicting space activities would go from the U.S. Joint Space Operations to the Pentagon to the State Department to the American embassy in Beijing then to a Chinese official
