Dad wants to force surrogate mother to have an abortion for having triplets

WOODLANDS HILLS, CALIFORNIA — A surrogate mother is being threatened by the father of her unborn children to have an abortion after he found out she is pregnant with triplets, the New York Post reported.
The mother, Melissa Cook, 47, found out she was pregnant with triplets between eight and nine weeks into the pregnancy. She had in-vitro fertilization using sperm from the unidentified father and three embryos from a 20-year-old female donor.
The father raised concerns about having three babies, and his lawyer sent Cook a letter saying she needed to abort one of the fetuses or face the consequences of not obeying the father of the children, including a loss of all benefits under their agreement. The father agreed to pay Cook $33,000 for the surrogacy and $6,000 for each additional child in the same pregnancy.
Cook is the mother of four children, triplets of her own, according to the New York Post.
She wrote a letter to the father, who lives in Georgia and whom she's never met, saying: "The doctor put in three healthy embryos ... The chances were high they were all going to take. You knew I was 47 years old. If you knew you only wanted two babies, then why put in three embryos?"
