A heartwarming video has emerged from China of a brave police officer jumping into the freezing water of a river and holding up an elderly woman for 20 minutes until his colleagues arrived to help.
In the footage, captured in Henan Province on Friday, the officer can be seen dragging the woman from the middle of the river to the bank side and tying her up, waiting in the water until they are rescued via a ladder.
According to news reports, both the 60-year-old woman and the officer were saved without serious injuries.
