THE CREATURES (Siouxsie & Budgie) – "RED WRAPPING PAPER" (Dec 2001)

"Red Wrapping Paper" is a Xmas song by The Creatures (Siouxsie & Budgie duo) that was released as a one-track cd in December 2001 (cat No SIOUX13CD) via 'Gifthorse', the band's official artzine (GIFT008 aka 'FIRE' issue) and was made available to 'Gifthorse' members exclusivey.

Musically, the track was mainly inspired by the Xmas song "Things Fall Apart" by Cristina Monet (RIP March 31, 2020) and happens to be Siouxsie’s all time favourite.
SIOUXSIE: "My favourite Xmas record of all time is 'Things Fall Apart' by Cristina. [.…] I don’t know a lot about her. She was based in New York and had that great Christmas single [.…] It’s a shame that was never made a huge hit; it should have been cos it was really good. It came out in 1982 or Christmas ’81. That was a very good Christmas record, very good for like the wreckage of a party and sort of putting it on and you ruin it. [….] In fact, Christmas is a horrible period for records. A lot of junk gets released and the cheesiest of it all climbs up to No 1: a six-year old girl singing about how much she loves her grandma, ughh!"
