Fashion is the perfect medium to send any message and Purvi Doshi used it to highlight the importance of preservation of flora and fauna with her "Sanrakshan" collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2013.
Using only white mulmul for the collection, Purvi's look revolved around just rectangle fabrics that were created into amazing draped garments. With fluid comfortable silhouettes ideal for resort wear, Purvi added traditional Aari embroidery that was worked into motifs featuring flowers, bugs, insects, plants, animals -- all considered endangered species.
Asymmetric cut dresses, layered tunics, softly flowing long skirts, draped and styled loose maxis - the silhouettes were totally free flowing with the colourful embroidery being the centre of attraction. Multiple layers of the fabric were a perfect choice for hot summer days when the mercury hits the high points.
The final long white gown with beautiful floral interest was on show stopper, Hazel Keech, star the Bollywood blockbuster "Bodyguard".
The "Sanrakshan" collection by Purvi Doshi was a strong fashionable reminder that plants and animals are needed to keep the human race alive.
