Netanyahu asks heads of European states to vote against EU resolution on Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with senior officials and ministers from Eastern European and Balkan states on Sunday to persuade them to oppose an EU resolution that would more firmly distinguish Israel and the additional territory gained during the 1967 war, Israeli daily Haaretz reported.
According to a senior official in Jerusalem, Netanyahu spoke to officials in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Hungary and the Czech Republic, asking them to oppose the current version of the draft resolution, saying the text was unbalanced and biased against Israel.
Netanyahu focused on these countries because of their positive attitude towards Israel as well as the fact that their foreign ministers were expected to hold a separate meeting before the council convenes today, the official said, according to Haaretz.
