Rui Manuel César Costa, OIH, (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈʁuj ˈkɔʃtɐ]; born 29 March 1972) is a Portuguese retired footballer and former director of football of S.L. Benfica. He is a current councilor for Benficas S.A.D.. Costa played in a creative role as an attacking midfielder but was also capable of playing as a deep-lying playmaker, and was renowned for his fine technique, great vision and excellent passing, which made him a capable assist provider; he is now regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation. In 2004, he was named by Pelé in the FIFA 100, as one of the 125 greatest living football players. Nicknamed the Maestro, Costa spent the majority of his career with Benfica in Portugal and Fiorentina and A.C. Milan in Italy. In a top-flight career spanning 17 years, he won several trophies including one Primeira Liga title, one Portuguese Cup, one Serie A title, three Italian Cups, one UEFA Champions League title and one UEFA Super Cup. A Portuguese international, Costa amassed 94 caps and scored 26 goals for a seleçcão and represented the country in three UEFA European Championships and one FIFA World Cup.

Rui Manuel César Costa, meglio conosciuto come Rui Costa OIH (Lisbona, 29 marzo 1972), è un ex calciatore e dirigente sportivo portoghese, attuale direttore sportivo del Benfica. Soprannominato O Maestro, in carriera ha vestito le maglie di AD Fafe, Benfica, Fiorentina e Milan. Annoverato tra i migliori trequartisti del mondo, è dotato di grande dribbling e tecnica sopraffina. Giocatore dalla straordinaria visione di gioco, era abilissimo e preciso nel passaggio ai compagni e nel portarli spesso al gol tramite numerosi assist. Anche suo figlio Hugo, nato nel 1999, gioca a calcio.
Rui Manuel César Costa OIH (Amadora, Damaia, 29 de Março de 1972) tendo passado a sua infância no bairro da Damaia, cidade e concelho da Amadora, distrito de Lisboa), é o actual director desportivo do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, tendo sido um futebolista português que jogava como médio-ofensivo. É atualmente Diretor Desportivo do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, o segundo clube do seu coração e a última camisola que representou, tendo-se retirado no dia 11 de maio de 2008.
