Colonial Williamsburg’s Super Bowl ad, which included footage of the towers on 9/11, angered and confused many viewers.

Super Bowl ads cost significant money to produce and air, so getting people’s attention is among the desired outcomes.
Colonial Williamsburg’s spot, which included footage of the towers on 9/11, succeeded in sparking a conversation, but perhaps not the one the makers anticipated.
The ad shows significant historic events, including the tower strike, in reverse and closes with the sentiments,  “Where did we first become ‘We the people?’” and, “It started here. Colonial Williamsburg."
Many comments posted on social media expressed both
