Buddy’s Habits- Cartain L’aiment Chaud 1992

The Paris based band Certain L'aiment Chaud (Some like it Hot) is an all female group specializing in the sounds of early jazz. They play the jazz from the twenties like the music of King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Clarence Williams.
The band was formed in 1985 by Kiki Desplat cornet and their members are Sylvette Claudet clarinet, Agnes Loustau piano, Nathalie Renault banjo aand Claude Jeantet sousaphone.
The band won le Prix Sidney Bechet 1992 de l'Académie du Jazz
they have played many of the European jazz festivals as well as the largest festival of its kind worldwide: Sacramento - USA.
Kiki Desplat is one of very few female trumpet players of class. Born and raised in Paris she is still leading her all female orchestra “Certains l’aiment chaud” on a part time basis since nowadays she actually lives in Sweden and is married to fellow trumpet player Paul Strandberg. On “Buddy’s Habits” Paul joins them on cornet. Kiki and Paul became a couple around this time and one of many dreams that they shared was to revive the cornet duets of Oliver and Armstrong. Now, many years later in 2007, they are happily married and have a daughter who plays trumpet as well.
