A man in Louisiana was allegedly caught stealing $31 in candy from a Dollar General store and is now facing a 20-year-to-life in prison sentence.
As this is not 34-year-old Jacobia Grimes’ first – or even second - shoplifting offense, state law allows the charge to be elevated to a felony.
Potential sentences are based on the number of priors, and for Grimes that may come out to eternal incarceration.
