Man traps neighbor's puppy in yard, shoots it dead in front of his eyes

PERRIS, CALIFORNIA — Disturbing video of a man shooting his neighbor's puppy at point blank range has gone viral online.

On April 1st, Michael Lemmon was having visitors over to his home. Lemmon says his neighbor across the street, Christopher Samuels, was taking pictures of Lemmon's guests, which is led to a heated confrontation between the two.

As the neighbors argued in the street, Lemmon's 2-year-old pitbull ran past them and into Samuels' yard. The puppy was reportedly drawn to the yard because it saw other dogs behind a fence and trotted over to greet them. Once the puppy was on his property, Samuels then slammed his gate, trapping the dog inside, and proceeded to pull out an AR-15 rifle.

A 90-second video of the scene was recorded by Lemmon as his dog was in enemy territory. In the video, Samuels can be seen following the dog around the yard with the rifle. As Lemmon yells and screams at Samuels, Samuels then shoots the dog, leaving it dead in the driveway.

Lemmon's daughter posted the video to Facebook that night. In the post, she claims Samuels shot their dog twice, the second time in the head to "make my dad even more angry."

Police have since seen the video and say any claims of self-defense will not hold up. 54-year-old Christopher Samuels is facing charges of animal cruelty and negligent discharge of a firearm.
