Boogie Woogie – Carlings 1991
At the 1991 Molde Jazz Festival in Norway we see the Carling youngsters approach a tune the boogie woogie way. 20 year old Gerd sets it in on piano with mam Aina on banjo and a solid rhythm backing by
(unbelievably) 12 year old Ulf. Next comes Max(22) playing clarinet in a very New Orleansy way and soon after Gunhild (16) joins with a muted trumpet.
Although short, they work towards an exciting end. while not loosing that overall boogie beat. It is just unbelievable that these young folks can create so many different jazz feelings and also play it in such a mature manner.
I have never seen any band that can do this. That’s one of the reasons you witness so many Carling clips posted by me. I hope you realize this and enjoy it as much as I do.
