Burglars use tinfoil suits to avoid bank's alarm sensors, can't hide from security cameras

PRAIA GRANDE, BRAZIL — Two burglars wrapped themselves in tinfoil to avoid detection from an alarm system this past weekend during an attempted bank robbery — but forgot about the security cameras.

Seeing the spacey duo on CCTV, security at the Banco do Brasil in Praia Grande alerted authorities. Armed police were sent it, but the would-be tinfoil clad robbers are believed to have fled in a white sports car and are still on the run, reported The Mirror. Police arrested a third suspect — believed to be the duo's lookout — hiding in the bushes nearby.

"They wanted to make sure the alarms didn't detect their presence by using the tin foil, but staff at the bank's CCTV control HQ saw them moving around and alerted police," the Mirror quoted a local police spokesperson as saying. "We searched the area and stopped people near the bank and found a suspect who was hiding in bushes and had a police record that we took in for questioning."
