Empire's Season Two finale, titled "Past Is Prologue," ended on the most insane note possible.
The episode picked up three weeks after the last at a "Welcome Home" party for Jamal, who's mostly fine after being shot by Freda. He's in a wheelchair and still emotionally distressed, saying he won't sing again unless the cycle of death and incarceration is over. Anika stops by to let them know the feds are after her, also mentioning a guy named Shine Johnson. Later, Cookie and Lucious are having a work meeting at Empire, when Hakeem bursts in to tell them there's been an emergency, which turns out to be Anika DANGLING from the balcony and threatening to kill herself.
