StarMaker, Walking Dead, and three more apps to try

September is upon us and with many people returning to their studies next week I just have this to say – cheer up you could have a real job! Then your next holiday as long as your Summer break is called retirement. Well that was more depressing than I intended. Oh well, here are five great apps to pick us back up. The first this week is StarMaker, and app for all you reality TV wannabes. With Starmaker you can record yourself singing the latest hits, before seeing how you match up against other users from all over the world. It actually officially tied to American Idol too, so who knows, if you do well you may end up on the next season. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Next we have the Walking Dead: Road to Survival. With the Fear the Walking Dead show looking fantastic, it is perhaps the best time to jump into this free to play game that follows the adventures of Michonne, Rick, Andrea and Glenn as they fight for survival against zombies and humans. Build defenses, gets characters, and take part in turn-based battles where every decision has consequences. ClearLock, is the ultimate app to help you focus on your work. If you’re like me and find yourself receiving a new notification every five minutes, ClearLock will let you lock specify application and their pop-ups so that – even if you want to – you can’t open them and get distracted. That way you can finish the job you have to do, the report you have to right, or the show you have to present. Okay, Lopeca if our fourth app, but it comes with a huge caveat – it could be good, if they smooth over the bumps and get more users on board. Lopeca is an abbreviation of Local People's Cameras, and it aims to offer you a way to embark on virtual tourism – connecting you with people in places you want to visit so that can literally show you around using their phones camera. Great in theory, but currently the connections seem awful and everyone using it seem to be in Turkey. So good if you want see Istanbul. But the more people grab it, the more chance it will be improved, making it worth a try. Last this week is Portal. This handy little app has managed to take advantage of local WiFi networks to allow you to share any file through in a few clicks or taps. After syncing your devices you will be able to move songs, photos, movies, and files between your PC and your mobile phone hassle free.
