A recent report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  reveals the leading causes of death among men and women in the U.S.
Topping the list for both genders is heart disease, which, in 2014, claimed the lives of over 614,000 people, with the slight majority of that group being male, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Cancer was the 2nd most common cause, impacting nearly 592,000 individuals that same year. 
Again, men perished from the disease with a small but notably greater frequency. 
For women, chronic lower respiratory diseases is listed as 3rd, with stroke and Alzheimer's following behind and in that order. 
Accidents and unintentional injuries are declared the 3rd leading cause of death among men, with chronic lower respiratory diseases at number 4 and stroke at number 5.
