BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA — A gang of suspects arrested for stealing guns last weekend planned to use them to kill cops, according to Baton Rouge police.

The gang, which included a 13-year-old boy, broke into a Cash America pawn shop on Saturday, the Advocate reported.

They stole eight handguns and a BB gun before the burglary was interrupted by a responding police officer. Three of the suspects fled but Antonio Thomas, 17, was arrested at the scene.

“We're going to look for bullets to kill police officers,” Thomas allegedly admitted to investigators, according to the Advocate.

Police later arrested the 13-year-old boy, Malik Bridgewater, 20, and Trashone Coates, 23. Coates, who is not thought to be one of the burglars, allegedly bought two handguns from the gang on the street.

Police are looking for one unidentified suspect. Two of the stolen handguns are still missing.

Tensions are high in Baton Rouge after police in the city last week shot and killed 37-year-old black man Alton Sterling. Sterling’s death is believed to be one of the factors which motivated Dallas sniper Micah Johnson to kill five cops.
