BOTHELL, WASHINGTON — Pastor Jerry Sebranke is one determined senior citizen. On August 16, Sebranke biked to his local bank in Bothell, Washington. His bike locked up outside, he sat in the bank, tending to his business. All of a sudden, he noticed something outside the building window.

In an instant, he watched a man walking by, and swiftly jack his parked bicycle. As the security camera footage shows, the man loads the bike into the back of his pickup trucks. Out of nowhere, the 80-year-old Sebranke bursts out of the door, and in a desperate attempt to impede the getaway, jumps on the back of the truck and hangs on for dear life.

After a few moments, Sebranke can hold on no longer, and lets go. He says he fell off the truck, and rolled down the parking lot as the pickup truck sped away. Miraculously, the elderly daredevil was not badly injured.

Though his bike is gone, Sebranke was gifted a new one, courtesy of the staff at the bank. The bike-jacker might have got away this time, but the old man says he’ll keep an eye out for him, not to retrieve the bike, to have a serious conversation about the man’s purpose in life.
