Full tutorial below:

Step 1 - The Xbox Live Gold generator

First we need to navigate to the Xbox Live Gold code generator's website: getlivegold.com

Step 2 - Connect to the Xbox Live Gold code generator

Connect to the Xbox Live Gold code generator by entering a valid e-mail address. You will need to confirm this e-mail address later, so make sure to enter a real one. I recommend you to quickly sign up for a new Gmail or Yahoo account and use that exclusively for this site. You can use your normal e-mail address if you like, but I prefer to keep everything separated. Once you have entered your e-mail address, go and select your region out of the menu. Make sure to select the correct region for you or else you will not be able to redeem your free Xbox Live Gold code later.

Step 3 - Select your free Xbox Live Gold code

After the generator has successfully established a connection you will be able to select your desired Xbox Live Gold code. Click on your desired code and it should get selected automatically. Confirm your request by clicking on "generate code".

Step 4 - Your free Xbox Live Gold code is generated

It usually takes roughly a minute until the Xbox Live Gold code generator has created your code. You will be able to follow the progress live on the site. Don't navigate away from the page during this process.

Step 5 - Redeem your free Xbox Live Gold code

Write down the details of your free Xbox Live Gold code (a copy of all the relevant details is also sent to your provided e-mail address) and go spend it!

What is Xbox Live?

Xbox Live is an online multiplayer gaming and digital media delivery service created and operated by Microsoft. It was first made available to the Xbox system in November 2002. An updated version of the service became available for the Xbox 360 console at the system's launch in November 2005, and a further enhanced version was released in 2013 with the Xbox One.

The service was extended in 2007 on the Windows platform, named Games for Windows – Live, which makes most aspects of the system available on Windows computers. Microsoft has announced plans to extend Live to other platforms such as handhelds and mobile phones as part of the Live Anywhere initiative. With Microsoft's mobile operating system, Windows Phone, full Xbox Live functionality is integrated into new Windows Phones that launched since late 2010. The service shut down for the original Xbox on April 15, 2010, and original Xbox Games are now only playable online through local area network (LAN) tunneling applications such as XLink Kai.

The Xbox Live service is available as both a free and subscription-based service, known as Xbox Live Free and Xbox Live Gold respectively, with most features such as online gaming restricted to the Gold service.
