When the Romans invaded Egypt, many officers saw it as a chance to climb the ranks. Julius rose to the rank of First Spear Centurion through the loyalty of his men, and managed to stay there through the contempt of his superiors. Julius lives and breathes on the front lines, an old man fighting a tired war miles away from home.
